If you are 65 or disabled, you will need to bring proof. 4. Your social security number and if married your spouse social security number. 5. Tag numbers on all vehicles. 1. Where can I get a job application for Lowndes County?: At the Administration office at 1121 Main Street, Rm 201.

2. What are the office hours of the Courthouse?: Office hours of the Lowndes County Courthouse are Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except holidays.

3. Where do I purchase a license plate for my vehicle?: At the Tax Collector’s office located of the first floor of the Lowndes County Tax Office at 1121 Main Street. The tax office is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. except holidays.

4. How many days do I have to get my tag after purchasing my car?: You have 7 days.

5. How many days do I have to purchase my tag after it expires?: You have 15 days.

6. How long do I have to purchase my tag after moving from another state?: You have 30 days.

7. If I purchase a vehicle out of state, how much is the sales tax.: It is 5 percent.

8. Can I renew my tag here even though I live in another state?: No.

9. Can I use a debit or credit card to purchase my tag?: No. Not at this time.

10. Can I purchase my tag on line?: No. Not at this time.

11. What methods of payments do you take?: Currently we accept Check or Cash. Some departments do accept Debit and Credit Cards.

12. When do I file for homestead exemption?: At the Tax Collector’s office located of the first floor of the Lowndes County Tax Office at 1121 Main Street during the months of January, February and March. Your home must be purchased by December 31st, and the deed recorded by January 7th. You do not have to do it every year unless you have a deed change, become disabled or become 65.
